WoooooWeeee!! What a Wednesday!!! Probably the best Hump Day I’ve had in a while! Today rocked! First thing today at work I kind of got a little flustered and pushed around, but hey, it’s part of the job description when you’re still learning the ropes. I don’t like getting the feeling that you are being discussed while walking into a room after briefly leaving.. Makes me anxious. Anyway, I didn’t eat much breakfast/my oatmeal because of how I was feeling then. But, it’s alright. Let it go for the most part.

On to the fun stuff!! There was a catered luncheon/guest speaker and it was awesome! I loved to not just be sitting at my desk all day long and got to head down to the room and have a great healthy and delicious lunch! Then afterwards, I headed back up to my office to have some more fun work to do that I actually enjoyed. Not being a smartass. And part of me loves being a designer because of days like today where I can fall in love with it all over again after being frustrated and having designer block on some of the projects I’ve been working on.

I was a part of a catered luncheon and we had a speaker! Exciting to see, hear, and be a part of the awesome new stuff they have going on down here! I had some delicious lunch in light of everything going on and I loved every minute of it! Then, the day just kept getting better too…

NEXT! We ended up having a group Happy Hour for one of the projects I was shadowing on and had a small part in the creative process, so we got to leave the office early. Not only was that nice in itself, yet again a change of scenery, but it’s Hump Day for Pete’s sake! And it’s almost the weekend! I lived it up a little bit and got a BEER! Woah! The last time I had a beer was about a year and a half ago during my Sophomore year, how pathetic is that.  I just had one though and then headed off to the next and last (save the best for last) part of the day!

Spinning!!! and Working Out in general!!!! HOT DAYUMMM today’s spin class was amazing. Not only did I do an hour of spinning, but I did lifting, and a cardio circuit after that too! WHooooP! … alright, enough, that’s a bit much.

But on an honest side note… Eating tonight was a challenge and I instantly have had remorse. And a part of that has to do with my friends and how they influence what I eat and the timing… Not good and I feel as if I can’t eat certain things because no matter what, how healthy it is, ‘green’, good for you or whatever, I feel guilty. I add up those damn calories and I instantly feel like all of this hard work I’ve been putting in is just going to waste. I still look in the mirror, still look at the scale and honestly think ‘Am I ever going to be happy with how I look or the amount of weight I’ve lost’ and I really don’t see myself ever getting to that point, at least not right now anyway. I mean, I know this stuff doesn’t happen over night but how does Beyonce go from having a baby and just shedding those pounds like tissue paper?! Its nothing to her!? Or Britney Spears looking super thin in her skin tight bandage dresses… Part of me just wants to give up and say fuck it and not care because it seems as if I’m taking two steps forward and 10 back… S.O.S.

So, going from an awesome day, downright fun and exciting to me sitting here writing this to you and just not knowing when or how I’m going to manage to meet the goals I’ve set for myself and stay there are going to be a discovery  for another day….  Discovering that lifestyle…

Workout

This workout today was fricken phenomenal. Started off with a spinning class that was at 85-90% the whole time, heavy resistance and lots of dripping sweat. It was great! Then afterwards I did some Olympic lifts (snatch) (power clean movements) and then used my NTC App for a 15 minute Core Crunch targeted area.

Food

According to my Calorie Counter App I burned over 3,631 calories and consumed 1,354 for the day. Breakfast was a few bites of my oatmeal with brown sugar and one clementine since the second one I brought was bad. Lunch was a catered lunch; huge bowl of fresh, delicious fruits, honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, raspberries, etc. Then HALF of an Italian sandwich and a cucumber and tomato salad. After work, had one beer, then went to workout. After working out I had some Chipotle; black beans, tomato salsa, lettuce, and steak. The bad part is that when I got home I had some ‘dinner’ that was out; rigatoni comprised of not whole wheat pasta and a meat sauce. UGH! GUILT STRICKEN.

June 23rd I’m a Swimming and Craving Giving In Fool..

First day of the weekend. Didn’t sleep in too late, but getting up was a bit more of a struggle than when I usually jump right out of bed… Had to lifeguard the day shift indoors which was nice for the most part. I was most excited about being at the pool to swim and do a pool workout. I love switching up my routine because I definitely get more excited about it and it keeps me really motivated.

Also, a few girls at the pool were talking about water jogging as a workout. Now, until I really listened to what they were saying and observed some of the older women doing it, I didn’t realize how good of a workout it might actually be. Not only because it’s similar to running in general, but you’ve got a water belt on so it forces you to stabilize your core and constantly keep moving or you can sink. Which led me to think of another good workout, more or less back to basics, but just simply treading water would burn up a ton of calories and not to mention, it’s a great total body workout. So for my next water workout, I’m going to tackle water jogging and some treading down the road!

I ate so healthy all day!! Super proud of myself, fighting cravings for bad food choices and staying on top of my portions. But then after work I ended up going out with some friends and that’s when the peer pressure aka friendly food pressure turned ugly. We went to Chipotle. Bad idea, instantly. Because I didn’t plan to eat THAT MUCH and THAT MANY CALS for dinner. Honestly, I was mad at myself. I was pissed because I couldn’t finish what I was eating, like I’m wasting money, and not to mention I can exactly calculate how many bites of what that I’m eating so I could be way over on my Calorie Counter App… Fudge. Then, the final deal breaker. Ice Cream. Ugh, sinfully delightful yet hit the spot. It really is a never ending battle with food. Dear Lord, Grant me the strength.

Workout

I swam for 26 minutes doing full laps in the pool, alternating freestyle and breaststroke. Didn’t feel like I was completely out of breath and tired like last week when I was sick, so that’s a plus. I did lifeguard for a five hour shift, which burned 1,181 calories. However, sometimes I don’t necessarily consider that exercise.

Food

According to my Calorie Counter App I burned over 3,374 calories and consumed 1,530 for the day. Well, today’s food choices were not much better than yesterdays… Breakfast was frosted mini wheats with fat free milk, the usual. Lunch was cooked broccoli, baby carrots and ranch dressing, clementines. Then at the pool I had Pomegranate juice, my version of a turkey Unwich, which consisted of turkey lunch meat, tomatoes, sprouts, cucumbers, and romaine lettuce. I wrapped a few up and ate them individually. They were pretty small but the calories added up towards the end of the night… When I decided to get Chipotle AND Ice Cream for dinner. I’m so dumb.  I got a burrito bowl, didn’t get the burrito wrap from hell thats 300+ calories. Didn’t suck the whole thing down. Good choice. But then I fucked it up and got ice cream. Damn cravings.

June 16th Sun, Swimming & Sunburn!

Weekend! Woo, Finally! It was nice to not have to deal with rush hour traffic today! I ended up lifeguarding (weekend job during the summer) today for the morning shift. I made a promise to myself that I would pack some healthy food to eat and carry my water bottle around like a crucifix because it was going to be a hot one! I made sure to put sunscreen on my shoulders and some on my arms because I know I burn easily however I failed to realize that when I got out of the water from swimming and cooling off that some had washed away. So I’m left with splotchy sunburn all over!!

I have it on my thighs, back of my neck, and my face. Lookin like a hot pig or a lobster, whichever visualization you prefer. I did manage to go swimming around the pool during the rest periods and do some lap swimming as well! Definitely  a great workout!

I didn’t eat a huge amount during the day, but I did go to Chipotle for dinner and out for a few drinks as well, so I had my cake and ate it too! I was also craving a shamrock shake from McDonalds because (as sad as this is) we were sitting outside at Chipotle eating and there was a sign on the McDonalds across the street that said try a shamrock shake and I LOVED them around St.Patricks Day, I was practically drooling even though I had just ingested over 1,000 calories and then I took out my iPhone and googled how many calories are in a shamrock shake… HOLY SH*T! A small shamrock shake has over 580-600 calories. WOOF! Definitely did not get one! Go me! Hah..

Body Update: Feeling significantly less sharp pain today which is surprising! I was expecting to have a bit more pain from working all weekend long, but it does seem to be getting a bit better. Woo-hoo!

Workout

AyyyeeYYoooo Switch uppp!!! Yeah, you heard it right. Finally started swimming this weekend! So lucky to be at the pool and on breaks or when I’m done with my shift I can go and swim around the pool and swim laps for however short or long.

Workout

I swam for 12 minutes doing full laps in the pool, alternating freestyle and breaststroke. Since I’m not a particularly proficient swimmer, I get more of a workout since my form is not streamlined per say so I have more resistance from the water. Also, alternating between each style allows me to get a bit of recovery or catch my breath slowing down the pace instead of just stopping completely.

Food

According to my Calorie Counter App I burned over 3,361 calories and consumed 1,852 for the day. Breakfast was Honey Clusters Cereal with Milk, some orange juice, and an english muffin with butter. I had a snack of leftover couscous and fresh cut kernel corn. Lunch was chipotle!! Yikes! I had a burrito, steak, rice, black beans, mild salsa, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, and guacamole. I drank a ton of water all day to help smooth over me getting that calorie and salt overload. I didn’t necessarily eat any dinner, I just went out for drinks, but I DID manage to avoid binge eating after all that drinking. Proud of myself for not hitting up taco bell!
