June 10th Hot Sun, Hot Run!
Today was a very eventful day to say the least. I tackled over a 5 mile run in 85+ degree weather with some hardcore humidity. It was a rough run, forgot to put on sunscreen and got some bad tanlines… woof. Then, afterwards made some healthy food for dinner and then worked (lifeguarded) in the hot sun for 4 hours. Pretty much had a laid back day, nothing too exciting, but worked out and worked hard. Proud day!
The run was pretty hard especially in the heat. I decided to run towards the middle of the day, which probably was not a good choice seeing as I have pretty bad tanlines haha. My asthma started to kick in, and i took a water bottle with me, but I had to stop periodically to try and stretch my calves since I’ve gotten some periodic shin splints and my hip and IT band have been really bad. The only thing is that with my hip, stretching tends to make it worse, so only ibuprofen and icing can help. I had to walk a good part of the run, I’m going to be honest, but I hate making excuses so I definitely need to start working on getting this hip back in check!
Warmed up with 8 minutes of yoga and various stretches for my legs since they’ve been hurting pretty badly
Ran 5.2 Miles for 46 minutes and burned between 600-750 calories
According to my Calorie Counter App I burned over 3,070 calories and consumed 1,801 for the day. Breakfast was Honey Nut Cheerios with Milk. Lunch was a mixed greens salad with ranch, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots & shredded mozzarella cheese. Midday snack at work (lifeguarding) and dinner was chicken salad but I used my grilled chicken from earlier in the week with a bit of mayo and half of a bun, cantaloupe and strawberries, whole grain goldfish, Greek yogurt, and then for dinner I had some grilled pork tenderloin and grilled red potatoes. Two oreo cookies for dessert!! Good eats!!
